Multi-talented Hilda Effiong Bassey, professionally known as Hilda Baci, is a TV producer, actress, presenter, and foodpreneur, who is about to embark on an extraordinary feat. She is planning to break the world record for the longest cooking marathon by undertaking a four-day cook-a-thon. The aim of the cook-a-thon is to showcase her culinary skills to the world, while also putting her country, Nigeria, on the global map.

The event is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 1, 2023, at the beautiful Amore Garden located in Lekki, Lagos, and is open to guests who wish to participate in various side attractions.

Hilda Baci is well-known for her exceptional food-plating techniques and is the CEO and Head Cook at FoodbyHilda, a premium restaurant and delivery service for African and continental dishes. During the cook-a-thon, Hilda Baci will create more than 250 recipes, which will be live-streamed on multiple social media channels for viewers across the world.

Speaking about her upcoming adventure, Hilda Baci said, “The journey to the cook-a-thon started five years ago. It is one of my biggest aspirations, and I am thrilled to be taking on this challenge. I have been preparing for this psychologically, and I am proud to finally take the bold step to embark on this adventure. The cook-a-thon is also an opportunity to showcase some of the positive stories that come from Africa through the meals that we make. This attempt is also proof of the strength young people can exhibit with the right platform and support. I am looking forward to receiving support from people worldwide to achieve this feat.”

Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon will aim to break the current world record for the longest cooking marathon, held by Lata Tondon, who completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in Rewa, India, in 2019.

Apart from her cook-a-thon, Hilda Baci is also empowering other talents through her online culinary classes, where she has trained thousands of young Nigerians and given prizes and incentives to the best-performing students. She has hosted cooking segments such as “In my Kitchen” on the Morning Rave show and “Dine on A Budget” on Pop Central TV, where she engaged celebrities on topical issues and treated them to a good dining experience. In addition, she emerged as the winner of the “Jollof Faceoff” competition in 2021.
