Reports indicate that there is unrest in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State following the alleged killing of three members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) by unidentified gunmen. The attack is said to have occurred at EkeIsu market in Obiangwu Community in the early hours of Monday. The slain NSCDC personnel were reportedly traveling in a vehicle when they were ambushed and killed.

According to a source, the security operatives were yet to be identified, and the motive behind the attack is unknown. The incident has caused panic in the area, and residents are said to be living in fear.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, expressed sadness over the killing of the three NSCDC personnel. He revealed that security operatives have been deployed to the community, and normalcy has been restored. He urged members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information that could help apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous act.

The killing of security personnel is a worrisome development, and there is a need for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to stem the tide of insecurity in the country.
