Ahead of the governorship election, the Rivers State Chapter of the Labour Party has endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sir Siminialaye Fubara.
The Rivers State Chairman of the Labour Party, Dienye Pepple, made the disclosure in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The announcement was contained in a communique arising from the executive meeting of the party.
Following the development, the party has apparently abandoned its standard bearer, Mrs Beatrice Itubo.
The LP chairman said they are supporting a young and vibrant candidate who is from the South-East Senatorial District that has not produced a governor in the state.
They, however, asked “Obidient” in Rivers to vote for the LP State Assembly candidates in the elections.
They said the decision is in line with the values of equity, fairness and justice which propelled them to support the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi
