During a live media chat in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state expressed his doubts about Senator Dino Melaye’s ability to contest for the Kogi state’s governorship. The governor criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, stating that he does not have what it takes to win an election in Kogi.
Governor Wike emphasized that being from a particular region does not guarantee electoral success, and he insisted that Melaye does not possess the qualities required to be a governor. Wike also expressed his concern that if the PDP gives Melaye its governorship ticket, the party is likely to lose the election.
When asked if he would campaign for the PDP if Melaye wins the ticket, Wike responded by saying that he would not campaign for the party. He accused the PDP leadership of trying to manipulate the process in favor of Melaye and asked why they were attempting to favor one aspirant over others.
In conclusion, Governor Wike rubbished Dino Melaye’s alleged governorship ambition, stating that the PDP chieftain does not have what it takes to win the Kogi state governorship election. He emphasized that the PDP should give its ticket to a more qualified candidate to stand a chance of winning the election.
