This move aims to ensure the institution’s leadership remains stable and aligned with the vision of its founders, in accordance with the LASUSTECH Law of 2021.

In a letter dated July 5, 2023, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, conveyed the Governor’s appointment of the substantive Vice-Chancellors. He expressed his confidence in the new appointees and urged them to demonstrate dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the discharge of their duties. The appointments are effective from May 25, 2023, to May 25, 2028, for a single term of five years.

The letter further emphasized the expectation of the State Government regarding the appointees’ asset declaration at the Code of Conduct Bureau. The new Deputy Vice-Chancellors were urged to complete the Code of Conduct documents, which outline the government’s expectations concerning their new positions.

Professor Basirat Olushola Oladipupo, the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) at LASUSTECH, is a distinguished professor of Health Education in the Department of Physical and Health Education at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. She previously served as the Chairman of the Students Disciplinary Committee at LASU and coordinated the University’s SEED Care Project.

On the other hand, Professor Abiodun Akinpelu Denloye, the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at LASUSTECH, is a renowned Professor of Entomology from LASU. He earned his B.Sc in Zoology from Lagos State University and pursued his M.Sc and PhD at the University of Lagos, Akoka. Professor Denloye is a leading expert in Biosafety and Biosecurity Risk (Biorisk) Management.

Mr. Adeniran Kasali, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE), explained the need for appointing substantive Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) for LASUSTECH. This decision was prompted by the expiration of the tenures of Dr. Olumide Metilelu and Dr. Gbemavo Kolawole Godonu, who had been serving in acting capacities as Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) since the establishment of the University.

These appointments reflect the commitment of the Lagos State Government, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, to strengthen the educational sector and ensure the continued growth and development of LASUSTECH.
