Governor Makinde Reveals Reasons Behind Removal of Oyo PMS Chief

In the aftermath of the clash between Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, former Chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State, and Governor Seyi Makinde, the governor has finally spoken out about the reasons behind the dismissal of the PMS boss. Governor Makinde stated that the state cannot have two parallel governments, thus justifying his decision.

The governor made this revelation on Sunday during a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, to commemorate his Omituntun 2.0, an initiative aimed at improving the well-being of the people.

Last Tuesday, Makinde, through his former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, announced the dissolution of the Park Management System, which was led by the former NURTW (National Union of Road Transport Workers) boss. This action followed the declaration by the Oyo Police Command that Auxiliary was wanted in connection with various criminal activities, including attempted murder, causing grievous harm, arms dealing, murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping in the Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa regions of the state.

Governor Makinde defended his decision to dissolve the PMS, emphasizing that meaningful development cannot occur in an atmosphere of insecurity. During the thanksgiving service, he assured the public that his administration would carry out necessary reforms within the PMS to address the troublemakers within its ranks.

Addressing the congregation, the governor said, “Prior to the last election, we had our fair share of thugs, but we sat them down and explained the vision we had for a new Oyo State. We implored them not to engage in violence or internal conflicts. We promised that if re-elected, we would unite them so that everyone receives their fair share, creating an atmosphere of peace for both the people and the government.”

He continued, “However, one of them expressed unwillingness to work with others. I made it clear that two governments cannot function simultaneously in the state; there can only be one government.”

Governor Makinde acknowledged that his achievements in his first term were only possible by the grace of God. He emphasized that the primary focus of Omituntun 2.0 is to improve the conditions of the people, assuring that the government would do everything necessary to ensure a seamless upgrade and create an atmosphere that fosters compliance.

The governor’s decisive action to dissolve the PMS, combined with his commitment to reform and ensure the safety of the citizens, demonstrates his dedication to maintaining peace and security in Oyo State. With the government’s ongoing efforts, the people of Oyo State can look forward to a brighter future under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
