Governor Akeredolu Takes Action Against Fuel Hoarders in Ondo State
Ondo State Governor Clamps Down on Fuel Stations Hoarding Petrol

In response to the petrol scarcity crisis that has plagued Ondo State since President Bola Tinubu’s announcement regarding the removal of petrol subsidy, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has issued a stern warning to petroleum marketers and fuel station owners who are hoarding the product. The governor has directed the state’s Task Force to take immediate action against those responsible.

Long queues have become a common sight at filling stations across the state, causing great inconvenience to the residents. In the wake of the petrol subsidy removal, dealers wasted no time in raising the pump price to exorbitant levels, ranging from N400 to N500 per litre. As a result, commuters in the state have been left stranded, with transport fares skyrocketing by 100 percent.

Governor Akeredolu’s threat to deal with fuel hoarders was conveyed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, from the state capital, Akure. The statement emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing the extensive queues that have persisted at filling stations, particularly in Akure, since Monday.

To alleviate the plight of the people and ensure the smooth distribution of fuel, Governor Akeredolu has instructed all petrol stations in the state to dispense the product from their tanks. He has further mandated the Governor’s Task Force to intensify its efforts in identifying and taking decisive action against any fuel station found guilty of hoarding petrol.

The Governor’s directive seeks to address the immediate challenges caused by the petrol scarcity and restore normalcy to the state’s transportation system. It is expected that the Task Force, armed with the necessary authority, will swiftly clamp down on fuel hoarders, thereby mitigating the hardships faced by the residents.

As the situation unfolds, the people of Ondo State eagerly await the implementation of the Governor’s measures to bring an end to the fuel scarcity and alleviate their suffering.
