The Gombe chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken disciplinary action against two of its members, Sen. Amos Bulus (APC-Gombe) and Rep. Yunusa Abubakar. The party has suspended them from their positions due to alleged anti-party activities during the 2023 general election in the state.
Mr Moses Kyari, the state APC Publicity Secretary, released a statement on Saturday in Gombe to announce the suspensions. According to Kyari, the lawmakers were suspended by their respective ward executives after they were found to have engaged in anti-party activities.
Kyari clarified that the Senator’s suspension came from the Ward Executives of Bambam in the Balanga Local Government Area of the state. He explained that a petition had been written from his ward, leading to a five-man committee being formed to investigate the allegations of anti-party activities about two weeks prior. However, when the Senator was invited to defend himself before the committee, he could not do so effectively, and as a result, the committee recommended his suspension from the party.
In the case of Rep. Yunusa Abubakar, his suspension was based on the findings of a disciplinary committee, which determined that he was guilty of anti-party activities.
Kyari also stated that the suspensions of both lawmakers had been ratified by the state APC Executive Council.
