Golden State Warriors defeated Dallas Mavericks to win the Western Conference and also advance to the final of the NBA, where they will meet either Miami Heat or Boston Celtics. GSW makes it to another final for the first time since the 2018/2019 season.
The first quarter was won by Golden State Warriors who had 28 points over the 23 scored by the Mavs. However, the gap was only a five-point gap and if Mavs could start the second quarter strongly, there was every chance they would edge out their San Fransisco rivals.
However, that wasn’t the case as the Warriors smashed the Mavs 41-29 at the end of the second quarter, putting the scoreline at 69-52. The man running the show for GSW was Klay Thompson, who scored a total of 32 points with two rebounds and three assists.
The Mavericks tried to equalize to close the 17-point gap at the start of the second half. They won the quarter but the score still wasn’t enough as they won by 25-32. The game continued into the final quarter and there was some hope for the Mavericks who began very brightly, with their superstar Luka Doncic their shining light.
The fourth quarter ended square at 26-26, but it meant that the scoreline was 120-110 in favour of the Golden State Warriors, who now advance to the NBA Final having won the Western Conference. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green will be in an NBA final again together for the same team, having done so in 2019. It was a good game all around, with Green, Doncic, and Thompson stealing the show.
