Governor Ademola Adeleke

The Speaker of the Osun Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, made the announcement during the plenary session, stating that he had received a letter from the governor in accordance with sections 192 (2) and 196(1) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (amended).

In addition to the commissioner nominees, the governor also submitted a request for the appointment of 25 Special Advisers.

To facilitate the confirmation process, an ad-hoc committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Akinyode Oyewusi, has been established. The committee’s primary responsibility is to conduct a thorough screening of the nominees and submit their names for confirmation.

During his address to the house, Speaker Egbedun stated, “I hereby wish to announce to this house and distinguished honorable colleagues that the deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Oyewusi will chair the house committee on the review of commissioner/special adviser nominees sent by H.E. Sen. Ademola Adeleke. The committee is formed to critically screen commissioners and special advisers nominees of Osun state. Each nominee must come with 35 copies of their curriculum vitae and declare their assets.”

This nomination of commissioners and special advisers comes seven months after Governor Adeleke assumed office. Notably, two members of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s cabinet, Kolapo Alimi, and Biyi Odunlade, have been included in Adeleke’s list of nominees.

Alimi served as the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, while Odunlade was the commissioner for sports and youth.
