The 43-year-old is often described as one of hip-hop’s greatest and most innovative talents, taking fans by surprise with each release.

However, many seem to differentiate between the new and old Kanye, arguing that the 2010s saw him decline and his genius give way to bizarre publicity stunts and over-reliance on musical experimentation to prevent him from fading into obscurity.

Nevertheless, he continues to impress but over on Twitter, he continues to baffle. The rapper’s public image is fuelled more by his comments than his music these days and this recent Twitter rant helps reinforce why that’s become the case. In a string of tweets posted on Tuesday, July 21st 2020, Kanye West cited a range of names and shed light on a very unexpected drama.

“Kriss don’t play with me you and that calmye are not allowed around my children Ya’ll tried to lock me up … Everybody knows the movie get out is about me … I put my life on the line for my children that North’s mother would never sell her sex rape … I put my life on my God that Norths mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that’s on God I’m at the ranch … come and get me … Drake … Come and get me … this is the exodus like Pusha said … On God … Shia is cap … Kim tried to bring a doctor to lock me up with a doctor … If I get locked up like Mandela Y’all will know why…” “Shia was deposed to do the first YZY GAP shoot and he never showed up … Anna Wintour always showed me love but when I told her I was going to GAP she looked at me like I was crazy Then she called back kissing my a** … Kriss and Kim call me now … West children will never do playboy west … Righteous indignation … I love my wife My family must live next to me It’s not up to E or NBC anymore … NBC locked up Bill Cony … NBC locked up Bill Cosby … Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughter’s life yesterday.”

Many readers will be familiar with the names mentioned, ranging from the rapper’s family members to fellow contemporaries like Drake.

However, there may be less familiarity with Bill Cony: “NBC locked up Bill Cony.”  After tweeting “NBC locked up Billy Cony”, he tweeted “NBC locked up Bill Cosby.” Essentially,  it looks like Kanye was trying to say that from the start but tweeted out a typo instead. Many have been quick to point this out on Twitter and it is fair to conclude that Bill Cony is actually just Bill Cosby but mis-spelt. For those who picked up on this, it didn’t take long to poke fun and start a meme trend, with fans tweeting out “Free Bill Cony” all over Twitter.

As noted by Heavy, the 82-year-old Bill Cosby is serving a three-to 10-year sentence; he was found guilty in 2018 of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in 2004. However, he still argues his innocence.

Is this a bold claim from Kanye suggesting that NBC is responsible for Bill Cosby being imprisoned?
