Former Kano State Governor Ganduje Summoned by Anti-Corruption Commission
Controversial Dollar Video: Former Governor Ganduje to Face Inquiry

Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has been invited by the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to appear before the commission within seven days regarding the viral dollar video controversy. The invitation was announced by the anti-graft Commission on Thursday in Kano, in response to questions from journalists.

According to the commission, an invitation letter has been sent to the former governor, requesting his presence to address the allegations of corruption against him. The commission emphasized its jurisdiction to investigate corruption cases from all sectors.

“We have established a forensic arrangement with experts to analyze the video and we are fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation into this matter and any other corruption-related issues in Kano,” said a representative of the commission.

The PCACC is determined to follow due process and has set the following week as the expected time for Abdullahi Ganduje to appear before them. This will provide him with an opportunity to present his defense and clear his name in the ongoing investigation. The chairman of the commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, affirmed their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that individuals are given a fair chance to respond to allegations.

“We have invited former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to the commission to answer questions because that’s what the law requires. We will provide him with ample opportunity to defend himself,” stated Muhyi.

Rimingado further addressed the authenticity of the viral video, confirming that forensic examination experts have verified that the footage, which allegedly shows the former governor receiving bribes from contractors, has not been manipulated or tampered with. This confirmation was made during a One-Day Public Dialogue on Anti-Corruption Crusade held at the Kano Anti-Corruption Institute.

In a related development, the PCACC has already taken action against a former commissioner who served under Governor Ganduje. The commissioner has been arrested and is currently under investigation for an alleged fraud amounting to N1 billion. This demonstrates the commission’s determination to hold individuals accountable for their actions and recover stolen public funds. Their goal is to reclaim a total of N100 billion that has been misappropriated.

However, Muhammad Garba, the former Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, stated that Abdullahi Ganduje has not yet received any official letter of invitation from the commission, as reported by newsmen.

The PCACC remains committed to upholding the law, conducting a thorough investigation, and promoting a transparent and corruption-free society. They urge the public to play an active role in fighting corruption and reducing its negative impact on society.
