Bandits Attack Convoy in Nasarawa-Kaduna Border Region

Former House of Reps Member Dr. Joseph Kigbu Abducted, Police Escort Killed  Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, a former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, was abducted on Monday evening by suspected bandits while traveling to Jos. The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m. along the route between Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

During the assault, the bandits engaged in a gunfight with the police escort assigned to Dr. Kigbu, resulting in the officer’s death. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fired sporadically, spreading panic among motorists in the area.

A Notorious Crime Spot

Local villagers confirmed the incident, noting that the location has been notorious for criminal activities over the years. Residents have frequently called for increased security measures to address the persistent dangers in the region.

Efforts to reach the Nasarawa State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful, as calls to the Police Public Relations Officer went unanswered at the time of this report.
