In a recent interview, former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, disclosed that his successor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, once took him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a legal matter. However, Daniel expressed gratitude for being delivered from the case, attributing his salvation to divine intervention.

Having served as the governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, Gbenga Daniel handed over the reins to Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who governed the state until 2019. The two political figures have played significant roles in shaping the state’s political landscape over the years.

During the interview, which primarily revolved around Ogun State politics, Senator-Elect Gbenga Daniel acknowledged that he has now resolved his differences with former Governor Amosun. Daniel emphasized that he had previously misunderstood their relationship, highlighting Amosun as one of the individuals who had harassed him during his time out of office.

Recalling the incident that led to his encounter with the EFCC, Daniel stated, “Amosun took me to the EFCC, but God delivered me.” He added that upon reflection, he reached a point in his life where he questioned the necessity of engaging in such conflicts. The former governor expressed his newfound perspective, realizing that there was no need for further animosity between him and Amosun.

Responding to inquiries about his current relationship with the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, Gbenga Daniel asserted that he had resolved any issues with everyone, including Governor Abiodun. He explicitly stated that there were no personal grudges remaining between them.

As Gbenga Daniel transitions into his new role as a senator representing Ogun East, his commitment to reconciliation and fostering unity within the political landscape of Ogun State serves as a testament to his evolving perspective and dedication to the betterment of the state.
