Winners Chapel Founder David Oyedepo Celebrates New Airstrip Approval
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed the approval of a private airstrip for Canaanland, the sprawling property of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, in Ota, Ogun State. The founder of the church, Bishop David Oyedepo, celebrated the development in a video, announcing the news to his congregation during the Tehillah Night Special Edition at Covenant University Chapel on Sunday.
The Tehillah Night event was part of a special thanksgiving service held in honour of Oyedepo, who recently marked his 70th birthday in September. Speaking to his congregation, Oyedepo expressed joy over the approval, stating that the airstrip would make travel more convenient for him and other members of the church who own private aircraft.
“I am sure you will be glad to know that the Federal Government has approved an airstrip for Canaanland. I won’t need to fly a helicopter to the airport. I can leave from here to wherever I am going. Members with their planes will have where to land and park,” Oyedepo said.
Tunde Moshood, media aide to Minister Keyamo, confirmed the development, stating, “Yes, the minister approved the airstrip. It is a private airstrip, and the minister approved it, that I can confirm.”
The new airstrip is expected to improve transportation for worshippers and visitors, especially during the church’s large events, which attract thousands of people from across the world. Oyedepo highlighted the success of Covenant University graduates in aviation, some of whom have gone on to become captains flying him around.
“Won’t you be glad to know that there are some captains who are graduates of Covenant University that fly me? We don’t have an aviation department here, but they found their place in God and went after it,” he said, urging young people to pursue their purpose with determination.
