A 29-year-old man, Vandu Weida has reportedly committed suicide by drinking herbicides after he had a misunderstanding with his wife.
According to the report by Punch, the incident occurred at Mildu Central, in the Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.
Residents disclosed that Mr Vandu who is a father of three had a misunderstanding with his wife. The argument later degenerated into a fight.
One eyewitness said during the fight, Weida told his wife that he was fed up with her and the world and preferred to die in order to leave her with the children.
After the fight, the man who was still irate could not control his temper. He allegedly went and drank the chemical, and was later found on the ground gasping for breath.
Residents of the area attempted to save him. He was rushed to the Mubi General Hospital.
He was however confirmed dead by the hospital as the substance had already damaged his intestines and other internal organs.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, is yet to confirm the incident.
