An internal investigation has been reportedly launched by the show’s distributor, Warner Bros Television, and its producer, Telepicture, following reports of bad treatment while working on the show.

Variety reports that WarnerMedia (the owner of Warner Bros Television) will lead the investigation alongside an anonymous third-party firm who will interview current as well as former staff members.

Over the past four months, different reports indicating poor workplace environment on the show’s set have surfaced and former employees of DeGeneres’ series have accused its producers of promoting an environment “filled with racism, fear, and intimidation”.

Ten individuals who were workers on the show, and one current employee, anonymously alleged that incidents which include being fired for attending two family funerals, and producers joking that two black employees look similar and may cause confusion, took place.

Many of the accusers claim that the show’s environment is “dominated by fear” and said that employees who don’t raise concerns about work hours or microaggressions are rewarded.

Interestingly, none of the accusers have brought up negative claims against DeGeneres herself, who many have said is a very nice person.
