A pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church has committed suicide in Ogun State after being defrauded of N600,000.
The Pastor, whose name is Tunde, took his own life on Friday and the community was subsequently thrown into confusion.
Sources revealed that the clergyman had started a thrift contribution two years ago after he was dropped by a company.
On the day of the tragic incident, Mr. Tunde’s wife had returned from an errand to see her husband in agonizing pain after he had drunk a bottle of Sniper insecticide.
She had raised an alarm and he had been rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A neighbor who pleaded anonymity said he had heard the pastor’s wife scream in a manner unlike any he had ever known. He and the other neighbors had rushed to the scene. They had discovered that he drank the bottle of Sniper when they got to the hospital.
“The doctor said there was nothing he could do at that particular time. We lost him. The deceased was working in a reputable organization before he was sacked. In order not to remain idle, he took to thrift collection, and he was doing well.
But he was defrauded of his clients’ money. I believe he took his life because he didn’t want to be put to shame. But killing himself was not the solution. I pray his soul will rest in peace”, said the neighbor.
