Nigerian Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, expressed his joy and excitement following the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, as the validly elected Governor of Osun State, Nigeria.
The ruling was made on Tuesday, with the apex court delivering a lead judgment by Justice Emmanuel Agim. The appeal was lodged against Adeleke’s election victory by the former Governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a tweet on his official Twitter handle, Davido celebrated the verdict of the court by taunting his opposition with a line from his latest album, “Timeless.” The line was from his track “Over Dem,” and it read, “We go dey shock them like high-tension.”
Davido’s tweet was met with excitement and applause from his fans and followers, who also celebrated the victory alongside him. The Supreme Court ruling has put an end to the legal battle that began since the governorship election held in September 2018. It is a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State, who have waited patiently for the legal process to run its course.
