The Afrobeats star describes the influence of Africans in the creative and professional sectors, including claims about Nigerian doctors in the U.S.
Popular Afrobeats musician, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has praised Nigerians for their outstanding contributions to key global industries, including healthcare and entertainment.
Speaking during an interview on the Afric TV program, Davido asserted that some of the brightest minds in the United States, particularly in the medical field, are of Nigerian descent. He further emphasized Africa’s growing impact on the global creative landscape.
“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can search it,” Davido said, underscoring his claim about the influence of Nigerians in professional spaces abroad.
Turning to the creative industry, the award-winning singer highlighted Africa’s burgeoning influence on global platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. According to him, Western filmmakers increasingly seek inspiration from the continent for fresh stories and cultural richness.
“Netflix and Amazon Prime come to Africa to get movie ideas. Now, when you come on Netflix, you will see about two Nigerian movies in the top 10,” Davido noted. “Africa is next, trust me. I feel like we have everything but just missing a couple of things.”
Davido also pointed out the immense creativity of Africans, adding that their innovative ideas are making waves across various sectors, including the music industry. He cited his record label, Sony Music, as an example, where African talent has made significant contributions.
“Even in my record label, Africans bring the best ideas. That shows that our imagination is off the grid,” he remarked.
While the entertainer’s praise for Nigerian professionals, particularly doctors, resonates with many, available statistics do not definitively prove his claim that they are the “best” in the United States. However, Nigerians have consistently gained recognition for their excellence in fields such as medicine, engineering, and academia abroad.
