Popular Nigerian musician David Adeleke, better known as Davido, recently gave his opinion on the 2023 general elections in Nigeria. In an interview with Lagos-based radio station Beat 99.9FM, Davido expressed his satisfaction with the low turnout of voters during the election.
Davido, who had taken a hiatus from social media following the death of his son Ifeanyi, stated that he would have been very vocal about the elections had he been active online. He emphasized that he has always been vocal about political issues in Nigeria.
In his own words, “I’m happy that people were not really coming out. You know if I was online, I would have been really vocal about it (the election). I have always been vocal about it. But, I mean, I was happy about it. That’s just being honest.”
However, Davido expressed his reservations about the credibility of the election, stating that the safety of every individual should be the top priority during the election period. He also added that he cannot hide his true feelings about the election, and that he does not believe it was credible.
Davido is known for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry and his activism on social and political issues. He has been vocal about the need for transparency and accountability in Nigerian politics and has used his platform to speak out against injustice and inequality.
