The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has spoken on the recovery of Coronavirus patients in the country.
The Director-General of the NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed that 90 per cent of Coronavirus patients recovered without any particular cure.
He noted on Wednesday that someone infected with coronavirus, usually required support for the body to recover by itself as he cited the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, recovery as an example.
“We should remember that 90 per cent of these patients recover without any intervention. So, if you take something and say you recovered and that something is why you recovered, it doesn’t quite add up.”
“There are very few viruses with a cure. So, you go to a hospital and for COVID-19, you’re given oxygen. Oxygen is not really a treatment; it’s to keep you alive for long enough for you to recover yourself,” he said.
As at Wednesday evening, the NCDC confirmed 22 new cases indicating that 15 of the cases are in Lagos, four in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), two in Bauchi and one in Edo.
The new cases bring the total number to 276 in Nigeria out of which 44 have recovered and six
