Controversy Surrounds Naira Marley's NDLEA Collaboration
Aide Questions Naira Marley’s Sincerity in Anti-Drug Drive

In a surprising turn of events, Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, a trusted aide to former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has issued a stern warning to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), threatening legal action if Nigerian music sensation Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, is spotted smoking again following his recent visit to the agency.

The controversial artist took to his social media platforms on Thursday to declare his unwavering support for the NDLEA’s ongoing battle against drug abuse, particularly among the youth, teenagers, and his devoted fanbase known as “Marlians.”

During his visit to the national headquarters in Abuja, Naira Marley engaged in a meaningful conversation with the Executive Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.). Marley expressed his commitment to the agency’s campaign to eradicate drug abuse from the streets and the lives of young Nigerians.

However, this collaboration between the NDLEA and Naira Marley has ignited a flurry of reactions across social media platforms, raising eyebrows and sparking a debate about the artist’s sincerity.

Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, known for his vigilant approach to social and political matters, took to his Facebook page to voice his concerns. In his post, he questioned whether Naira Marley had truly abandoned his smoking habits before being chosen as an advocate for the anti-drug campaign. Mr. Success voiced his intention to take legal action if he witnesses Naira Marley or any artist signed to his record label smoking, whether in music videos or public appearances.

The former governor’s aide stated, “I will not hesitate to initiate legal proceedings against the NDLEA if I witness Naira Marley engaging in smoking in his music videos or in public, as well as if any artist under his record label is caught smoking. It is my hope that Naira Marley has genuinely ceased his smoking habits before accepting payment from the NDLEA to champion the cause against smoking and drug abuse. I am closely monitoring his actions as I am genuinely invested in the success of this campaign.”

As the controversy continues to brew, the spotlight is now firmly fixed on Naira Marley and the NDLEA’s decision to involve him in their mission to combat drug abuse. The music star’s ability to resonate with the younger generation, coupled with his history of embracing controversy, has both supporters and skeptics closely following his every move in this pivotal campaign against drug abuse.
