Famous British singer and songwriter Adele turned 34 yesterday. The Englishwoman was born Adele Laurie Blue Evans to an English mother and a Welsh father. However, when Adele turned 2, her father left and left her mother to care for her on her own. The superstar was born in Tottenham, London but then moved with her mother to Brighton, a coastal town in the south of England.
She began singing at an early age(4) and soon moved back to London with her mother, only this time they weee in South London. Growing up, Adele would play the guitar at a nearby park in front of friends. She attended BRIT School and graduated in 2006.
Shortly after, she signed with XL Recordings and in 2008 she released her debut album titled “19” in the year 2008. That year, she won the BRIT awards Rising Star and also the Grammy for Best New Artist.
Her next album “21” was also a record breaking achievement for the young and talented Adele. Topping Billboard charts in the US and the UK, Adele also the world’s best selling artist of the 21st century, recording a whooping 31m copies in sales.
Adele released “Skyfall” which was the theme song for the famous 007 James Bond movie Skyfall. The song won the Academy Award and by now Adele was arguably the most popular artist of the 21st century.
Her album “25” won 3 Grammys and her popular hit track “HELLO” sold over 1million copies in a week on its release.
“30” proved to be another mind-blowing album from Adele. Again she was the World’s Best Selling artiste in 2021 and won the British Album of the Year. Honored with an MBE(Member of the British Empire), Adele lives in England and spends her time performing charities.
