Britney Spears’ father has agreed to step down as the pop star’s conservator.
This is contained in court documents which partly reads; “Mr. Spears is willing to step down when the time is right, but the transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the Court.
“In order to reach that result, the Court should encourage all interested parties to meet and confer in order to resolve those pending matters in the best interests of Ms. Spears.”
According to court documents, Mr Spears says he is “the unremitting target of unjustified attacks” but “he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”
The filing says James Spears will fight the petition to force him out but will work with the court and Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart to “prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”
He said: “Instead of criticizing Mr Spears, Lynne should be thanking him for ensuring Ms. Spears’ well-being and for persevering through the years-long tenure requiring his 365/24/7 attention, long days and sometimes late nights, to deal with day-to-day and emergency issues – all to protect Ms Spears and those around her charged with protecting his daughter.”
