Formula 1 driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez has agreed to continue with his team Red Bull after winning the Monaco GP. Perez finished ahead of teammate Max Verstappen who is currently topping the F1 log.
Perez made the announcement a few minutes ago on his Twitter handle stating he was happy to continue his journey with the racing giants. ”Winning the Monaco Grand Prix is a dream for any driver and to celebrate my victory there with this announcement that I will continue with @redbullracing is just the icing on the cake.”#NeverGiveUp.
The 32-year-old Motorsports star celebrated his victory by his trademark jumping into a pool acrobatically to the cheers of the RedBull fans. Perez has signed a two-year extension to remain a RedBull driver and the team seems to be destined for great things. With Max Verstappen in the first position on the table, Perez is in third with just five points from second-placed Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.
Verstappen currently has 125 points, with Perez amassing 110 points. However, the father of Max Verstappen has faulted the tactics of RedBull, inciting that it only helped Perez and they did not focus on the bigger picture of helping Verstappen extend his lead at the top. This has not been met well by thousands of fans all over the world as many are blasting Verstappen’s dad for thinking F1 is a family affair.
With plenty of harmony in the RedBull ranks, the only way is up for them as they continue to pursue a successful F1 campaign as they prepare for the next Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan.
