Bobrisky Allegedly Pays N5 Million to SAN for Federal Pardon Amid EFCC Money Laundering Charges

Popular Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has reportedly revealed that he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in a bid to secure a Federal Government pardon from money laundering charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a video shared by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday, October 7, 2024, Bobrisky allegedly disclosed the payment during a phone conversation dated May 16, 2024. According to the recording, Bobrisky said the SAN had originally requested N10 million for his legal services, but Bobrisky could only provide half of the amount due to his frozen bank accounts following EFCC intervention.

The controversial cross-dresser claimed that his godfather had stepped in to assist with the initial N5 million payment and had also arranged for a well-furnished apartment near the prison, enabling Bobrisky to avoid actual incarceration.

In the voice note, Bobrisky said, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’” He added that his godfather had negotiated with authorities to keep him near the prison, where he could still meet family members and maintain his presence without being formally imprisoned.

Bobrisky also hinted that his six-month sentence, scheduled to end in July, could be shortened if the amnesty request filed by the SAN is successful, noting, “The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”

Shortly after the recording was made public, Bobrisky took to Instagram to make light of the situation, posting, “Nurse Titi your patient is out again,” with laughing emojis, seeming to dismiss the seriousness of the allegations.

This recent revelation follows Bobrisky’s earlier claims that EFCC officials had demanded and received N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him. He also alleged that his godfather, with the help of the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Controller-General, arranged for him to serve his sentence in a private apartment instead of a prison cell.
