The 2022 Headies Award is going to be one to watch for all the right reasons.
The organizers have announced that the award ceremony will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. This has been met with so much support on social media with a lot of people talking about it.
The nominees have been listed in various categories and the countdown has already begun.
The date for the grand occasion will be the 4th of September at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Various Nigerian artists have been nominated with a few popular names missing out or not acquiring many nominations.
Viewer’s Choice nominees were; Ayra Starr with ”Bloody Samaritan”, Fireboy DML with ”Peru”, Joeboy with ”Sip”, Lojay and Sarz with the track titled ”Monalisa”, Nektunez & Goya Menor with ”Ameno Amapiano”. Olamide’s hit track that featured Omah Lay titled ”Infinity” was nominated as well as Rema’s Soundgasm and Wizkid’s Essence Featuring Tems.
Rookie of the year nominees was; Av, Fave, Magixx, Portable, and Ugoccie. Other categories including Best Recording include; Celebrate Me by Patoranking, Essence by Wizkid Ft Tems, JPY by Falana, Loving is Harder by Johnny Drille, Meji Meji by Brymo, and Somebody’s Son by Tiwa Savage Ft Brandy.
Best R&B Single nominees were; Baby Riddim by Fave, Beggie Beggie by Ayra Starr Ft Ckay, Essence by Wizkid Ft Tems, Running by Chike Ft Simi, Promise by Niniola, and Sinner by Adekunle Gold Ft Lucky Daye.
Songwriter of the Year Award nominees was; Adekunle Gold with Sinner, Ajebo Hustlers with Loyalty, Brymo with Meji Meji, Fireboy DML with Peru, and Omah Lay with Understand.
The next rated artists’ nominees were; Bnxn, Zinoleesky, Ayra Starr, and Ruger. These young talents have been making waves in the last one-two years in the music industry and are gradually becoming big forces to be reckoned with.
Producer of the year award nominees include; Blaise Beatz with the song Sinner by Adekunle Gold featuring Lucky Daye, Niphkeys with Feel Good by Mohbad, P Prime with Ozumba Mbadiwe by Reekado Banks, Pheelz with the song High sang by Adekunle Gold Ft Davido.
