Blaqbonez Drops 'No Excuses', Fires Subtle and Not-So-Subtle Shots in Latest Album

Nigerian rap sensation, Blaqbonez, is no stranger to commanding attention — and with the release of his latest album No Excuses, he’s turned the volume all the way up once again.

After months of buildup, shifting release dates, and even a fashion runway debut of the album visuals, No Excuses finally landed at midnight. Originally scheduled for August 22, Blaqbonez delayed it, citing his desire to make it “the best album ever.” That perfectionist streak, which has defined much of his career, remains very much alive.

Since his rise in 2019, the rapper — popularly known as Emeka the Stallion — has been rewriting the rules of Nigerian hip hop. From Sex Over Love to Young Preacher, each project has shown a new layer of Blaq’s creativity, wit, and unrelenting confidence. But No Excuses feels different. This isn’t just Blaqbonez making a statement — it’s him shaking the table.

A Former Ally, Now a Target?

One name that keeps surfacing in conversations around the album is OdumoduBlvck. Once considered an ally of Blaqbonez, the pair even teamed up on the 2023 track Technician. But that camaraderie has since collapsed.

Odumodu had posted cryptic messages on social media, perceived by many as digs at fellow rappers questioning his longevity. Blaqbonez, true to his form, chose to respond through bars — most notably in 2024’s Haibo Freestyle, where he declared himself untouchable. That track, fans say, carried thinly veiled shots.

Odumodu didn’t stay silent. He came back with Pussy Niggaz, a direct, no-holds-barred reply that officially drew the battle line. Since then, it’s been a year of tension, subtext, and subliminals.

No Room for Doubt

With No Excuses, Blaqbonez doesn’t beat around the bush. One track in particular has set the internet ablaze — many are calling it a certified diss track. While names aren’t mentioned, the lyrics leave little to the imagination.

He starts with:

“Dem no get motion, maybe they need a wheelchair…
No fit tell their guy the truth, dey suck for new stipend…”

Fans believe these lines allude to the online debate where Odumodu’s music was criticised as underwhelming, with defenders jumping to his aid. Blaqbonez suggests those supporters might be paid or motivated by personal gain.

Then he adds:

“Whenever I need PR, dem be like my employees…
Someone delulu thinks he’s a king, but he’s a pawn.”

This is widely seen as a direct jab at Odumodu’s frequent online tirades and his self-styled image as a king of rap.

Later, Blaq spits:

“All that agriculture wey dey give boys confidence go soon off…
Dem dey gas out to rap with me, the MACHINE go soon knock.”

Here, he implies the use of artificial streaming boosts (“agriculture”) and industry push (“machine”) to gain relevance — but warns that it won’t last.

The verse escalates further:

“Raise am raise am, sht the MACHINE is faulty
E go need quick recovery, person wey go soon turn 50
Used to be him, BobRisky
Now e don cast, he’s finished…”*

Ouch. These are not just lyrical jabs — they’re body blows.

He doesn’t stop there:

“Every day all about BLAQ, he’s tweeting…
Anywhere wey clout dey, you see him…
Old man, all you really want is greeting.”

This paints Odumodu as someone clout-chasing and desperate for attention.

And just when you think Blaqbonez is wrapping up, he delivers the knockout:

“He’s sending DMs before 8 in the morning, it’s giving obsessed…
He loves me, hates me, wanna kill me — it’s giving unstable.”

“Your belly looks like you swallowed the…”

The final line cuts deeper than most — crude, direct, and calculated for impact.

Beyond the Beef

While the beef has clearly dominated headlines, No Excuses isn’t all smoke and shots. The project features tight production, catchy hooks, and a confident maturity that shows Blaqbonez is in a league of his own.

It’s raw, it’s layered, and it’s unmistakably Blaq.

Whether OdumoduBlvck responds or not, one thing is certain — Blaqbonez has dropped the mic with No Excuses, and he’s dared anyone to pick it up.
