Following the explosion that rocked a Belleville home in the early hours of Tuesday, there are reports that firefighters are already curbing the outbreak.
The explosion which occurred in the 400 block of North 40th shortly after 4 a.m. damaged an unoccupied home next door.
Officials said no one was home at the time of the explosion and that the home was for sale.

There are currently no known injuries.
Firefighters say the flame burning in the debris is coming from a gas line. They say it is unclear what caused the explosion. But, the gas meter was damaged in the blast. Ameren Illinois crews are headed to the scene to dig out the line. Firefighters are working to cool the area until they arrive.
