Basketmouth Reveals Plans to Retire from Comedy in Five Years

Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, known by his stage name Basketmouth, has revealed that he plans to retire from comedy in the next five years. During an interview on the online radio program by hitz1039fm, Basketmouth disclosed that he had been “floating” for the past six years but had decided to return to comedy. However, he stated that he would retire from the profession after five years.

The comedian said, “I have got five years to do this, and I am done. I will still be cracking jokes, but it wouldn’t be a professional thing. So if you see me doing any gig, it is maybe I am doing pro bono, but I will not charge anybody to perform again. I have made enough, I have committed myself to the art enough to take a break or quit.”

Basketmouth also mentioned that he is exploring other fields such as movie production, series, and concert production. He expressed his desire to experience something new and to be remembered for something other than comedy.

In a recent post on his Instagram page, the comedian wrote, “I’ve got 5 more years before I drop the mic… and I intend to make every single year count.”

It is noteworthy that Basketmouth is a renowned Nigerian comedian, actor, and television personality who has been active in the entertainment industry for over two decades. He has won several awards for his outstanding performances in comedy, and his decision to retire from the field has garnered much attention from his fans and followers.
