Barcelona are again in the transfer market and this time it is because of Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international goal machine is open to joining the Catalan super club this summer if they can agree a three-year deal with the 33-year-old.
Lewandowski has been involved in 49 goals from 38 games this season, scoring 45 and assisting 4 in all competitions in the 2021/22 season. Considered an “unsellable” amongst the Bayern Munich hierarchy, the Poland captain could force a move out of the Allianz Arena if he is not given a deal longer than two years. He believes he can keep playing at the top level for at least four more years but Bayern Munich are keen on signing a younger striker and recalling Holland striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Barcelona are willing to swap Sergino Dest in an attempt to get Lewandowski at the Camp Nou. The Bayern Munich board are contemplating such an offer as they are looking to sign a Right-back come summer, with plenty uncertainties about Benji Pavard’s future at the club.
Dest has not decided on leaving or staying at Barca yet. He loves his club and is willing to stay if given the chance. The 21-year-old American defender joined from Ajax in 2020. Bayern Munich do not want to let Lewandowski go but they are not willing to give the superstar an improved three-year contract.
Other clubs like Manchester United are monitoring the Lewandowski situation as well as teammate Serge Gnabry.
