The presidential election petition court reconvened today to resume the hearing of the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The tribunal had previously adjourned the proceedings after President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded their defense on July 5th.
Following this, the court directed all parties involved in the petition to prepare, file, and exchange their final written addresses, setting the stage for today’s session.
Atiku Abubakar is contesting the election’s results and seeking the court’s intervention to nullify President Bola Tinubu’s victory. Throughout the legal proceedings, both the PDP and the APC have presented compelling arguments, backed by evidence and expert testimonies, making the case a closely-watched affair in the country.
The courtroom was filled with an atmosphere of anticipation as legal counsels for both sides were present to adopt their final written addresses. Supporters of both parties also gathered outside the court premises, expressing their unwavering support for their respective candidates.
