Christopher Ogah, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obi Ward, in Nasarawa State has been arrested for allegedly defiling two teenagers – a 12 year-old and a 13 year-old- in his house.
The incident happened in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to Daily Trust, an eyewitness caught the politician luring the girls to his room when they entered his home to fetch water from a well.
The Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Mohammad Oyimoga Oyigye confirming the incident added that he saved the suspect from being lynched by angry youths and handed over to the police in Lafia.
Confirming the incident, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for discreet investigation after which the suspect will be charged to court.
The statement read in part: “The police, under my watch, are warning would-be rapists to have a rethink or face the wrath of the law.”
He assured that the police will continue to arrest and prosecute anyone found guilty no matter how highly placed.
