In a historic event at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Abdulrasheed Kashamu, the son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, has been inaugurated as the youngest member of the legislative body. The 26-year-old Abdulrasheed was among the 26 legislators who took the oath of office on Tuesday, June 20, following the March 18 governorship and State Assembly elections.
Representing the Ijebu North 1 State Constituency, Abdulrasheed emerged victorious on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A graduate of Brunel University, London, with a B.Sc. in International Business and Management, he further pursued his academic career at the University of Surrey, where he attained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in International Financial Management with Merit in 2018.
Addressing the press after his inauguration, Abdulrasheed Kashamu expressed his commitment to operating an open-door policy, emphasizing his dedication to ensuring good representation for the people of his constituency, irrespective of party affiliations. In his pursuit of effective governance, he pledged to prioritize job creation and economic empowerment, particularly for artisans, market traders, farmers, businesses, youth, and women. He outlined plans to facilitate accessible loans and skill acquisition programs, aiming to foster entrepreneurship within the Ijebu North community.
Shortly after taking the oath of office, Abdulrasheed had the opportunity to meet with Governor Dapo Abiodun, with both exchanging pleasantries and discussing matters of mutual interest. The young lawmaker expressed his gratitude to the constituents who traveled to Abeokuta in large numbers to show their unwavering support during the ceremony.
