Abdullahi Sule Wins Re-Election As Nasarawa Governor

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election in Nasarawa state.

Sule, who is seeking re-election for a second term in office, secured 347, 209 votes in the contest with his closest challenger, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 283,016 votes while Abdullahi Maidoya of the New Nigeria People’s Party scored 11,726 votes.

The election results were collated and announced in Lafia on Monday by the INEC’s Returning Officer in Nasarawa State, Prof. Ishaya Tanko.

“Abdullahi Sule of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Tanko said at the state collation center.

Sule’s success at the poll was a repeat of the 2019 election where he had 327,229 votes against PDP’s Ombugadu who had 184,281 votes.

The Returning Officer further narrated that the total number of registered voters in the state was 1,899,244.

He added that the accredited voters in the state were 668,978 but the total votes cast were 660,805 while the rejected votes were 6,934.
