American rapper, Lil Wayne, has expressed his disappointment after not being selected as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. The rap icon shared his emotional reaction in a viral video, stating that missing out on the opportunity deeply affected him.

TALKGLITZ reports that fans and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj have voiced their criticism of Jay-Z, who is responsible for choosing the headliner for the prestigious event. Many were upset that Kendrick Lamar was picked over Lil Wayne for the performance.

Lil Wayne, in his response, admitted that he was heartbroken by the decision, particularly as the event would have taken place in his hometown of New Orleans. He reflected on how much it would have meant to him to take the Super Bowl stage in his city.

“That hurt a lot,” Wayne said in the video, which gained widespread attention on social media. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me, and I’m just trying to put me back together.”

Despite the setback, the legendary rapper stated that he is working on moving past the disappointment, though the missed opportunity remains a significant blow for him and his fans.
