Numerous young players were turned away from the Golden Eaglets’ inaugural training session in Abuja on Thursday.
The session marked the beginning of the team’s preparations for the WAFU U-17 Championship, held at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch.
As per a SCORENigeria report, head coach Manu Garba was intent on training exclusively with the 51 players he selected for the camp.
The majority of these players have undergone the required MRI testing and are cleared to participate in the WAFU tournament.
The championship will be hosted by Ghana starting May 15.
The Golden Eaglets are the reigning champions, having defeated Burkina Faso in the last tournament’s final.
Additionally, the WAFU tournament will act as a qualifying event for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
