Nigerian afrobeat superstar, David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, is celebrating a milestone in his music career as he marks 12 years since he released his debut single titled ‘Back When’.
The singer took to his social media handle to share the news with his fans and followers.
In his post, Davido expressed his gratitude, describing himself as “God’s child”. “12 years ago today I dropped my first single … God’s child ????????????❤️,” he wrote.

Davido has come a long way since his debut single, with several accolades and honorary mentions to his name. He is now considered one of the leading names in the African music scene.
The multi-award-winning artiste released ‘Back When’ in 2011, as part of his debut album, ‘Omo Baba Olowo,’ which was released in 2012.
The song received massive airplay and set the pace for the young singer’s career. He further gained popularity with his second single, ‘Dami Duro,’ which was released in 2012.
Davido has since released several chart-topping songs and has collaborated with notable musicians both locally and internationally. He has also won numerous awards, including BET Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards, and MOBO Awards.
