The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Northwest, Abdulhamid Mohammed Oscar, has expressed confidence in the success of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming elections.
Despite the recent shortages of currency and fuel, Oscar believes that Nigerians will vote based on past performance and that Tinubu’s credentials speak for themselves.
Oscar stated that the current economic crises were intentionally created by individuals close to President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the main opposition party, in order to cause disruption and prevent the APC from winning. However, he believes that Nigerians are now wiser and will not fall for these tactics.
The youth leader added that the shortage of fuel and currency was also an attempt to manipulate voters and blame the APC for the hardships they were facing. He pointed out that it was suspicious that the Central Bank of Nigeria, commercial banks, and petrol marketers all inflicted hardship on Nigerians simultaneously. He also raised concerns about the CBN’s sudden deadline for the exchange of old Naira notes, which he believes is against their own laws and regulations.
