Defending NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks lost last night to Boston Celtics as they failed to book a place in the East Coast finals following the loss to the Massachusetts club. Bucks won the NBA title last season with the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo stealing the show for the Green Army of the North.
The first quarter was very impressive for the Bucks who enjoyed dominance for the earlier part of the quarter and got 26 points in the first stage. ATt the end of the first quarter, they were six points ahead of the Celtics and it seemed they were heading for another final in back-to-back seasons. However, the Celtics had a resurgence in the second quarter and began firing on all cylinders and at the end of the second quarter, the score was 48-43 for the Celtics.
The third quarter was even more woeful for the current holders who seemed to have lost their footing and continued their downward plunge. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 79-64 and it was looking all bleak and gloomy for the Milwaukee Bucks. They continued to try to revive their chances and find a way back but the Celtics continued to boss the game and enjoyed dominance, something they had since the start of the second quarter.
The final quarter was no different for both teams as there was no way back for the Bucks, who only added 17 points to their 64-point tally, finishing the game with 81 points. Meanwhile, the Bucks had a whopping 109 points in total, after amassing 30 points in the final quarter, a brilliant way to kill off the Bucks.
Grant Williams of the Boston Celtics recorded the highest amount of points by a single player, 27, and he also had 6 rebounds. Teammate Jayson Tatum had 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. Al Horford was also instrumental for the Celtics as he got 6 points, 6 assists, and 10 rebounds.
A few of the Bucks’ ballers did well personally, like Giannis Antetokounmpo, who recorded 25 points, 20 rebounds, and 9 assists. Wesley Matthews of the Milwaukee Bucks had 3 points and 2 rebounds while Jrue Holiday recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Boston Celtics now face Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference final in a quest for who will be crowned East Coast Champions at the end of the season. Trade talks include a possible move for Antetokounmpo to Los Angeles Lakers next season but it is still not certain as of yet what the star forward has decided regarding his future.
