The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore, says the federal government should close down all higher institutions to allow students to vote during the upcoming election.

The election, which is only a few weeks away, has elicited strong reactions in the country’s political circles, with many predictions and hallucinations about who will eventually win the highest office in the land.

Sowore in his call urged the Ministry of Education through the Federal Government to grant students at least a weeklong break to vote during the election.

At least 3.5 million students with voter cards but polling stations outside their school districts may be disenfranchised from the voting process due to their inability to reach their polling stations.

As it stands, the country’s educational authorities may not be considering allowing already registered students to take a vacation in preparation for the 2023 elections.

Many people have already expressed their concerns about the development, blaming tertiary institutions for their lack of enthusiasm.

The human rights activist, who is running for president in 2023, has championed Nigeria’s educational system in his blueprint, which aims for full primary and secondary school enrollment for all children.

Lending his voice to the development, the presidential candidate of the AAC, in a Twitter post on Thursday morning wrote “The Federal Govt led by @MBuhari, @inecnigeria, the ministry of education must grant Nigerian students at least a weeklong break to enable them to vote in the 2023 elections.

“They must be allowed to choose their leaders so they can get rid of wicked leaders #LetOurpeoplevote, he tweeted.
