The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has revealed his running mate, senator Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed was announced as the LP vice-presidential candidate in next the 2023 general elections, in Abuja on Friday, following the withdrawal of Doyin Okupe, who had stood in.
The Labour Party had submitted the name of Doyin Okupe as their Vice-presidential candidate on a temporary basis (Place holder) to beat the electoral umpire’s deadline.
Baba-Ahmed is 46-year-old and the founder of Baze University, Abuja, and Baba-Ahmed University Kano State.
Baba-Ahmed was known for speaking out against corruption, in 2007 he took the Independent National Electoral Commission to court over the conduct of past elections. He was known for speaking out against corruption.
Speaking at the event, Obi said Baba-Ahmed was eminently qualified to bring his private sector and academic achievements to bear in the drive to rescue Nigeria from the primitive politics of ethnicity.
Obi added that the party will anchor its manifesto in the coming days on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
