The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu says Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo is trying to deceive Nigerians by endorsing Peter Obi.
On Jan 1, the former president formally announced his support for Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), which generated mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Speaking on Thursday at a rally in Benin, Edo state, Tinubu said Obasanjo is not qualified to recommend or endorse anyone as President of Nigeria because of his failures.
“Can that man recommend a leader for you in Nigeria? Is that not sending an agent to pick your pocket? A blind leading the blind,” Tinubu said.
“I am sorry I am not insulting visually-impaired people. But it won’t work; they will end up in the ditch. If I talk about Obasanjo and Obi, you will think they are human beings together. One who doesn’t know the way cannot show the way.”
Tinubu also criticised Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the latter “fought” with Obasanjo when the duo was in charge of the country’s affairs
He accused the former president of frustrating his efforts to solve electricity supply challenges during his tenure as governor.
Tinubu also accused the then Obasanjo administration of diverting and embezzling money meant to solve electricity challenges.
According to Tinubu: “I brought Enron to solve electricity problem and help Lagos economy but Obasanjo and PDP frustrated it. They punished me and Lagos people and even began deducting our money.
“I created Local Governments in Lagos to accelerate development and create employment for our people but Obasanjo seized our allocation and punished us for that.
