A two-story building under construction in Kubwa satellite town, Abuja, has collapsed leaving workers trapped.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Aso Savings Bank.
Five victims have been rescued by a joint task force of operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, and some residents.
One of the victims said the collapsed building injured two workers who are in hospital receiving treatment leaving three under the rubble.
A resident of the area told journalists that the collapsed building was initially a shopping mall, but was recently converted into residential apartments.
He said the addition of extra blocks to the structure may have led to the collapse.
The officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have since commenced a rescue operation.
