Woman and INEC Official Arrested for Alleged PVC Sales in Enugu

The Enugu State Police have taken into custody a woman named Chinwendu Nnamani, aged 41, for the alleged sale of permanent voter cards (PVCs) to their rightful owners. In a viral video, Nnamani was seen compelling PVC owners in Emene, Enugu to pay N1000 in exchange for their cards. Despite some being able to pay, others were unable to and were left without their PVCs.

Nnamani was charged in court and was arrested along with an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nkiruka Patience Obinna, 38, who reportedly provided Nnamani with the PVCs to sell.

According to a statement released by Enugu police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests took place on 31/01/2023. The investigation has now been completed and the suspects have been charged in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022. Nnamani and Obinna were granted bail and the case has been adjourned until 15/02/2023 for further proceedings.Woman and INEC Official Arrested for Alleged PVC Sales in Enugu
