Suspect feigned ignorance after abducting and killing his friend over ransom dispute
New details have emerged in the tragic case of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), whose abduction and murder shocked many. Screenshots of WhatsApp conversations between Christianah’s suspected killer, identified as Adeleye Ayomide, have surfaced online, revealing his deceit and attempts to cover up his role in the crime.
Christianah was last seen on August 19, 2024, when she left her residence in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, for the University of Lagos, where she was undergoing industrial training. She was abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba road, and her family was later contacted by the abductor, who demanded a ransom of N3 million.
The abductor, who was later identified as Adeleye Ayomide, a friend of Christianah and a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, initially demanded the large sum but eventually accepted N350,000 after negotiations with Christianah’s family. However, he failed to release her, and the situation took a deadly turn.
Ayomide was arrested after security operatives traced the bank account and BVN details he used to receive the ransom. During interrogation, he confessed to murdering Christianah and burying her body in his family’s compound in Ikorodu.
In the WhatsApp conversation that has now gone public, Ayomide played along as if he was unaware of Christianah’s abduction. He expressed concern and even acted shocked when informed that her family had been contacted for a ransom of N3 million. The screenshots reveal a chilling contrast between his outward behavior and the horrific crime he had committed.
