In a shocking and deeply distressing incident, Professor Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole, a professor at the University of Ibadan, has been mercilessly gunned down by unidentified assailants.
The incident occurred on Monday evening as the professor was returning to his residence in the Moniya area of Ibadan.
Professor Ajewole, a distinguished scholar specializing in Social and Environmental Forestry, was targeted by the assailants, who callously ended his life, casting a dark shadow over the academic community. The perpetrators fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of grief and anguish.
The lifeless body of Professor Ajewole was promptly transported to the Anatomy Department of the University of Ibadan for further examination and investigation.

Confirming the tragic incident, SP Adewale Osifeso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Professor Ajewole.

An anonymous lecturer from the University of Ibadan, seeking anonymity also confirmed the chilling details of the incident.
He revealed that Professor Ajewole met his untimely demise while driving home. The anonymous source recounted the harrowing events, stating, “It is true, he was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car away.”
