The University of Lagos is set to unveil a zero-emission car manufactured by a research team in the institution.
A zero-emission vehicle is a vehicle that does not emit exhaust gas. Exhaust gas contains pollutants harmful to the health and environment. Such pollutants include carbon monoxide, lead, hydrocarbons, and various oxides of nitrogen.
The revelation was made by Professor Dixon Akinyele at a press conference in Lagos to announce the institution’s 14th Research Conference and Fair.
The zero-emission car is one of the products of the research grant of N5billion given to the institution last year.
A group of students from the Faculty of Engineering led by Professor Samson Adeosun, the Lead Scientist, achieved the monumental feat.
The zero-emission car and other products will be shown at a forthcoming conference that will take place from August 21 to August 23. The theme of the conference is ‘Automation and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities for 21st Century Research and Development’.
