Tyler Perry has opened his own movie production studio in a grand opening ceremony that saw A-list celebrities present in the 330-acre location in Atlanta, Georgia.
The celebrities joined Perry in celebrating the historic moment, with the highlight being the filmmaker’s tribute to the black stars who inspired him in his career – Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Sidney Piotier, Whoopi Goldberg, among others.
Popular comedy actress Tiffany Haddish was also present and said that working in the studio always brought a smile to her face as it had been a Confederate Union military base responsible for attempting to keep them enslaved but was now owned by a black man.
Perry was emotional and overwhelmed by the massive support shown to him by those present, saying how grateful he was for them to have left what they were doing to be with him.
For people to drop what they’re doing in their very busy schedules to come and join me in this moment is beyond anything I could have imagined. It makes me happy. It makes me want to cry. It makes me grateful. It’s just beyond. I’m over the moon right now.Tyler Perry – variety.com
